Choosing a hosting or domain company is easier when you know what to check. This guide gives you a checklist that works with any provider, and three companies that meet it.
Services change, so always confirm the details before you pay.
How to tell whether a provider is safe and reliable
| 1 |
An identified company. Registered name, tax number (NUIT) and a physical address, on the website and on every invoice.
| 2 |
Clear prices. Prices in meticais, and the renewal price, not only the first year.
| 3 |
The domain in your name. Your .mz or .com is registered in your name, and the transfer code is handed over whenever you ask.
| 4 |
Backups with stated rules. How often they run, how long they are kept and how you restore them.
| 5 |
Security included. A free SSL certificate that renews itself, malware protection and isolation between accounts.
| 6 |
Support you can reach. Channels and hours written down (WhatsApp, ticket, e-mail, phone), in your language.
| 7 |
Terms in public. Terms of service, privacy and refund policy you can read before paying.
| 8 |
Freedom to leave. No fees to take your site, e-mail and domain elsewhere.
